EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING SKILLS COACHING

Executive Functioning Skills Coaching services are for youth age 14 and older and adults experiencing challenges with Executive Functioning due to ADHD or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Executive Functions (EF) are a set of skills that help the brain stay organized, intentional, and strategic. When EF skills are working well, emotions are well-regulated too, allowing us to approach tasks and situations without feeling overwhelmed. When EF skills are not strong, however, we can feel disorganized, frustrated, and ineffective.

EF Skills Coaching can help with:

  • Supporting academic success and learning strategies

  • Managing workloads and achieving work-related goals

  • Balancing school, work, and personal priorities

  • Overcoming procrastination and getting started on tasks

  • Building routines and systems that make daily life more manageable

  • Strengthening emotional regulation and stress tolerance

  • Enhancing confidence, motivation, and self-esteem

EF Coaching combines evidence-informed coaching and therapy approaches, including Occupational Performance Coaching, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing.

At the start, we’ll collaborate to identify 1–3 meaningful goals to focus on in our sessions. Progress is reviewed regularly, and strategies are adjusted as needed to ensure they stay relevant and effective. Between sessions, brief check-ins are available to help maintain motivation and accountability.

My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, offering support and strategies that honour each person’s unique strengths, needs, and goals. Together, we work to cultivate self-compassion and confidence, building on existing strengths rather than applying a one-size-fits-all solution.

Parent Involvement

Parents of teens are included in the initial consultation before sessions begin. Once sessions are underway, the level and type of parent involvement are tailored to the teen’s needs, preferences, and goals. For teens working toward greater independence, brief parent check-ins during some sessions can be an effective way to stay connected and support progress.

Parent Support sessions are a separate service and are an opportunity for parents to meet with me without your child present to gain additional support, strategies, and tools to help your teen.
